No Ceará, Rafael Pereira fez 64 jogos, marcando três gols.

USACA elections delayed by three months

The USA Cricket Association has announced that it is delaying regional and national elections by at least three more months to allow member leagues to meet eligibility requirements

Peter Della Penna05-Dec-2011The USA Cricket Association has announced that it is delaying regional and national elections by at least three more months based on a recommendation made by attorney Robert Chance, who is conducting the controversial compliance review audit of all USACA member leagues.USACA had posted a notice last month after a November 17 conference call in which Chance requested that leagues be given an additional week to turn in requested documents for his compliance review in order to help make a recommendation as to which leagues were valid and in turn eligible to vote in elections. However, the latest release on the USACA website says that at a board meeting conference call held on December 3, the board voted by a “large majority” to take up Chance’s proposal to “provide help and assistance to the leagues wanting to comply with the USACA constitution and run the elections when a majority of leagues, ideally at least 66%, are compliant. This could be done in around three months or less.”According to the release, if the elections were held now, few leagues could participate because most have been unable to provide all of the requested documentation to show that they are fully compliant. The release says that Chance “suggested that USACA should work to assist those member leagues who may prove deficient in areas such as the implementation of development programs, financial controls and written constitutions. The additional ninety days would, therefore, also allow USACA to put mechanisms in place that will allow leagues to request and receive such assistance in meeting their eligibility requirements.”After yet another delay to elections, which were constitutionally mandated to take place no later than November 30, the possibility increases that USACA could face another ICC suspension. USACA was suspended twice in the last decade after internal disputes relating to governance issues. The last suspension occurred in March of 2007 after USACA failed to meet an ICC imposed deadline to approve a constitution and hold elections. USACA did not wind up ratifying a constitution until the following January with elections taking place more than a year later in March of 2008, after which the suspension was finally lifted. As a result of the last suspension, USA was not allowed to participate in the inaugural ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament in Darwin, Australia in 2007 and were ultimately dropped down to Division Five upon being readmitted into the ICC fold. They were also removed from the 2005 Intercontinental Cup during their first suspension. USA qualified in July to take part in the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in the UAE next March and are supposed to participate in ICC World Cricket League Division Four, which is due to be held next summer.According to USACA general manager Manaf Mohamed, the ICC had been in contact with him about hosting Division Four and officials had informed him that they expected to make a final decision on the matter in November. When contacted on Sunday night, Mohamed said he had not heard from the ICC for several weeks but said he did not see any reason why USA’s spot in either tournament would be in jeopardy.

Corintianos deixam o Independência lamentando chances perdidas

Liverpool fans debate possible Son appearance in Tottenham Hotspur clash

Liverpool have a 100% record in the Premier League having won all four of their matches so far.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s team are yet to show the same level of finesse and style that they demonstrated last season.

The Reds have faced West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Leicester City – pretty much all of which prevented Liverpool from playing their free-flowing game.

On Saturday, though, Klopp’s side take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, where they are likely to have more freedom to implement their game.

It is the club’s first real test of the season and they have been boosted by the news that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli will miss it due to injuries.

Questions have been raised over Son Heung-min and whether the attacker will feature after returning from the Asian Games.

The London Evening Standard claims that it is unlikely given that the 26-year-old only touched down in North London this week, but some Liverpool fans have been discussing the possibility.

One supporter deviated from the conversation and suggested that the Anfield club should try to sign Son.

County season could begin overseas

County cricket could be played overseas as the ECB seek to ease fixture congestion during the English season.

County cricket could be played overseas as the ECB seek a radical solution to ease fixture congestion during the English season.ESPNcricinfo understands that, among a raft of proposals under consideration, the ECB has floated the idea of playing the first two rounds of the County Championship overseas, possibly as early as March, in a move that is designed to ease fixture congestion and avoid some of the early-season issues with the weather. This season started on painfully slow pitches and in uncomfortably cold conditions that did little for players or spectators. The Caribbean is one potential venue. Six teams travelled to Barbados this March for pre-season training and warm-up games and it is understood that several Caribbean nations would be delighted to host the counties and their travelling supporters. The UAE, where the MCC Champion County match has taken place for the last four seasons, and South Africa are other potential destinations. While the initial signs are that several counties are supportive of the idea, others are concerned about open rebellion from their members. It is probable that the value of a county membership would be reduced if counties offered fewer matches as part of the package. While subsidised travel to the overseas games may placate a few, for many it may prove too expensive. Whether the idea of better scheduling in more comfortable weather for the rest of the domestic season is adequate mitigation remains to be seen.Reaction

“Is it April 1? I would be very concerned about who was going to pay for it all.”

“The club have invested heavily in the facilities at Headingley and we’re well supported in Yorkshire, so to take matches elsewhere would deny the Yorkshire public.”

“I did the Champion County match in Abu Dhabi and they were great conditions that allowed for good cricket.”

“There could be fan mutiny. The British weather sees to it that cricket is already limited.”

Cost is an issue for the counties, too. But it is understood that the trips could be subsidised by sponsorship and possibly even host tourist boards.Apart from allowing more time for rest, recovery and practice, the longer county season might also bring other benefits. It might, for example, also allow counties to participate in the Champions League – no counties are appearing in the 2013 competition as it clashes with the end of the county season – and it might create room for a second T20 competition, played in a small window in mid-season.The ECB are keen to encourage radical debate on the future of the county game as they seek to improve the standard of cricketers emerging through the system and help the counties gain more financial independence. While many of the proposals are not likely to progress beyond conversation stage, this one – while in an embryonic phase at present – appears viable.
