Unpaid fees and broken promises could lead to a players’ boycott of the Bangladesh Premier League, Tim May has warned. May, the chief executive of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA) has revealed that “many” overseas players involved in the BPL remain unpaid and that players’ patience with the organisers has worn thin.”The players are very seriously considering some sort of boycott simply because there is little else they can do,” May told ESPNcricinfo. “They were promised 25% of their fees as soon as they arrived in Bangladesh, another 25% before the last game and the final 50% within 150 days of the end of the event.”In most cases, those first payments have not been made. As for the rest of the fees the players are owed, well, good lucking seeing that.”May admitted to a sense of frustration at the situation. After severe problems securing payments after the first instalment of the BPL, FICA advised players against taking part this time. Many ignored the warnings, however, and are now asking FICA for assistance.”We didn’t say this might happen,” May said. “We said it would happen. So yes, there is an element of frustration. We gave the players strong advice and they ignored it. They seem to have thought ‘it won’t happen to me.'”So, what do we do? The answer is we look at the bigger picture: we try to help the players in the same way in the way a foreign embassy might try to help people who find themselves in trouble in a foreign country they have been warned against visiting. Our obligation is to protect players’ welfare and we will continue to look at way we can do that.”We believe the new administration behind the Bangladesh Cricket Board should be better than the one that preceded it. We hope that the delays might be because they had little time to prepare ahead of this season of the BPL but, at the moment, we do still have some doubts about the BCB.”May did express the hope that the episode might convince players to take warnings from FICA more seriously in future. In particular, he hoped that players considering taking part in the Pakistan Super League might reflect that.”There are good reasons why just about every government in the world is advising its citizens against travelling to Pakistan,” May said. “There are good reasons why none of the major cricket boards are sending their teams to Pakistan and there are good reasons why most independent security experts say that it is not safe to visit the country.”We are not making up the security concerns we have with Pakistan. We have an obligation to look after the welfare of players and there is nothing more important than their personal safety. We are strongly advising foreign players not to take part in the Pakistan Super League, but we understand that some are likely to do so anyway.”

Shane Watson will be pushing against the prevailing tide of Australian cricket should he choose to abandon bowling in his search for a way out of the maze of injuries that have blighted his sporadic Test career. In the aftermath of the Boxing Day Test, in which he aggravated a calf niggle he had taken into the match, Watson admitted for the first time that he was seriously considering recasting himself as a batsman to play more consistent sequences for Australia.The national selectors and the team performance manager Pat Howard have made it patently clear their preference is for Watson to remain an allrounder, in keeping with a policy to push for cricketers as widely skilled as possible. This has been underlined by the selection of the Victorian Glenn Maxwell for the New Year’s Test at the SCG, where his assortment of skills will contrast with the one-note batting role Watson may yet turn to.”At the end of the Test series Shane will have the opportunity to sit down with a few of us and have that discussion,” Howard said. “The selectors have been very keen on having people who are multi-skilled across the board. You’ve seen many of our players bowl this summer, even the wicketkeeper. I think the selectors are open to discussion with any player regarding how they see they can get the best out of them. If Shane Watson opens that dialogue he’s free to do that, and to be judged on those performances.”Very much the selectors do want that multi-skill ability. That’s not just about Shane Watson, they love people being able to bat, bowl, field, bring some leadership to the table, and having more than one skill. When the selectors sit down they do look at that ability, but also they look at the mix as well. If Shane or anybody wants to be a batsman only, well somebody else has got to be able to take up the overs.”That’s something selectors think about when they put up a squad of 13 but also when they put up 11. How can they make sure that Michael Clarke, Mickey Arthur, the selectors and the team have a bowling armoury that can work together and deal with a James Pattinson situation from Adelaide. We got exposed there, obviously, it had flow-on effects for Perth and probably flow-on effects afterwards.”The push towards cricketers of greater versatility may presently be linked to reducing the chances of injuries to the squad’s younger fast bowlers, but has its origins in the West Australian Sheffield Shield teams of the 1970s led by John Inverarity and his deputy Rod Marsh, now the senior selection figures on the national panel. The emphasis on batsmen who could bowl and vice versa was pronounced enough to mean even wicketkeeper Marsh bowled his quota in the nets. Howard also noted that at 37, the highly valuable Michael Hussey could not be expected to bowl as much as he has in recent times, leaving further slack to take up.”The reliance on Mike taking at 37 years of age a lot of overs is something we can’t rely on,” Howard said. “Being able to do the odd over here and there we’ve seen Dave Warner bowl, so that multi-skill is being pushed. I know Usman Khawaja bowled in the Chairman’s XI and got a wicket against Sri Lanka. So that message is getting through from the selectors. Those who work hard on their fielding, work hard on their other attributes … we want that ability to bat deep, we want batsman to bowl, and John Inverarity and Mickey Arthur and the selection panel do drum that in.”Typically, Watson has been reluctant to play when picking up injuries, even minor ones. Yet in Melbourne he played, his calf niggle perhaps overshadowed by the greater doubt surrounding Clarke’s hamstring and the presumption that Watson would take up the leadership of the team if the captain failed to prove his fitness.”It was a niggle, nothing more than that,” Howard said. “If you’re a professional sportsman you have niggles you have going in. He had a niggle, so did a lot of guys, but it did get worse during the Test match. That [Watson not playing] was a possibility. But we know that he can contribute, we know he had a heavy workload in Hobart, but so did Peter Siddle, so did Mitchell Starc, and we knew from the lesson from Adelaide to Perth, taking a group of guys all with high injury risks, you can’t take everybody in together.”Howard also sounded a note of gratitude for the selectors’ fortitude in ignoring public pressure not to rest Mitchell Starc from the Melbourne Test after his five-wicket haul to close out the first Test in Hobart. Mitchell Johnson and Jackson Bird were instead included as fresh pacemen and shared 10 wickets between them as Sri Lanka were routed on two and a half days.”The fast bowling discussion was a very big one in the lead-up to this Test,” Howard said. “There’ll be differing views through that process but there’s the opportunity to give the selectors a bit of a wrap regarding that. They held firm and I think many of you would say there’s been some benefit to that process, so I think on reflection it’s been a reasonably positive couple of days.”Injuries are a difficult part of the world game at the moment that we’ve all got to try to be very good at, we want to be the best at it, and we’ve got a long way to go. It’s one of those things where if we try to play with 11 [fit] players it makes a significant difference to the outcome of the game.”

حسمت المباراة بفوز بايرن ميونخ (4-2) ليستعيد صدارة الدوري الألماني، برصيد 55 نقطة، ويتراجع دورتموند للمركز الثاني بـ 53 نقطة.

O Avaí retornou à Primeira Divisão do Campeonato Brasileiro em 2019. Na temporada, o clube catarinense mostrou regularidade durante a campanha da Série B, o que levou o Leão a conquista do acesso. Contudo, paralelamente ao bom rendimento nos gramados, teve uma questão que poderia atrapalhar no desfecho da temporada: os atrasos salariais. Porém, não foi bem assim.

O principal responsável pelo acesso, o técnico Geninho, em entrevista exclusiva ao LANCE!, admitiu que foi um problema a mais fora de campo, mas a situação foi bem conduzida pela diretoria e comissão técnica para que os jogadores pensassem somente dentro das quatro linhas. Além disso, espera que a campanha da próxima temporada seja melhor.

-A questão salarial foi muito bem conduzida e isso não atrapalhou em nada. Nós procuramos conversar com os jogadores, fazendo o grupo entender que quem poderia entender e reverter a situação eram eles. Com as vitórias e colocar dinheiro em caixa, quitando as dívidas. Em nenhum momento isto foi divulgado, e isso não atrapalhou em nenhum momento o rendimento do clube caiu para atrapalhar a caminhada para o acesso. Foi bem administrado e agora os atletas vão ser recompensados, já que o clube vai ter uma condição financeira melhor, sanando as dívidas. E com certeza, fazer um 2019 melhor.

No fim da temporada, o Avaí terminou a Série B, com 61 pontos, na terceira posição, o que representou 53,5% de aproveitamento. O comandante, que renovou seu contrato, ressaltou que essa conquista é para provar para os mais céticos, que os técnicos experientes podem ainda disputar com a nova geração, que está surgindo.

– A conquista deste acesso é muito importante. Prova para mim, não para os outros, que eu ainda tenho condição de estar trabalhando, de continuar atingindo meus objetivos. Contrariando a opinião de muita gente, que acha que quando o profissional chega em uma certa idade, ele já não dá resultado. É uma realização!

Mesmo com problemas salariais, o técnico Geninho afirmou que não teve dificuldades para implementar o seu estilo de jogo. Ele iniciou uma estratégia, mas teve que alterar por conta de lesões de jogadores durante a disputa nacional. Mesmo assim, a equipe não perdeu a intensidade e a regularidade ao longo da competição nacional.

– Não tive nenhuma dificuldade para impor meu estilo de jogo. No momento em que cheguei mudei o modo da equipe, com um 3-5-2. Depois, com muitas perdas, tivemos que alterar, com um quase 4-3-3. Como todo mundo viu, o grupo manteve a regularidade – afirmou.

“Prova para mim, não para os outros, que eu ainda tenho condição de estar trabalhando, de continuar atingindo meus objetivos”

– Além do trabalho para conquista do acesso, foi a consciência do grupo, que acreditou no projeto e que podia atingir seus objetivos, muito forte e unido. Com essa força de vontade, foi tudo favorável para conseguir chegar à Série A – complementou.

Com o acesso concluído, o clube já deve pensar o planejamento para 2019. Deste modo, a diretoria tem que apresentar novos conceitos e não passar por problemas. Segundo o treinador, a ideia é manter o time e conseguir explorar as categorias de base para auxiliar na campanha. E o pensamento já deu certo neste ano. Um dos atletas que se destacou foi o lateral-direito Guga, de 19 anos.

– Nós vamos iniciar um trabalho com pé no chão. Colocar os salários em ordem, tudo aquilo que tinha ficado para trás ter ficado em ordem, para que possamos ter um 2019 mais tranquilo. O primeiro passo é tentar manter o grupo, a base. Tentar renovar com os jogadores que foram bem na Série B, puxar garotos da categorias de base para formar o elenco e iniciar o regional de maneira mais tranquila e ir qualificando mais para frente. E conseguir a permanência na Série A – disse.

LANCE!: O que aconteceu em 2014, quando assumiu o clube, conseguiu o acesso, mas no início da temporada seguinte acabou saindo do clube?

Geninho: Em 2014, eu subi com o time e sai logo no início de 2015, porque eu não fiz o campeonato regional, apenas algumas partidas do começo. As coisas não andaram da maneira que planejado e já pressentia que não haveria evolução. Com isso, eu pedi demissão logo do início do Estadual. E tudo que eu havia previsto, aconteceu e o clube foi rebaixado.

LANCE!: Como viu a campanha do Avaí na competição nacional?

Geninho: Na minha opinião, o Avaí teve pouca irregularidade durante o Campeonato. Teve alguns jogos que não conseguiu o resultado, alguns dentro de casa, o que deixou a torcida chateada. Porém, a recompensa foi fora de casa, com melhor aproveitamento, melhor ataque e defesa. Ou seja, mostrou regularidade.

LANCE!: Como você analisa a nova geração de treinadores, que cresceu muito neste temporada?

Geninho: Eu vejo essa nova geração com muita qualidade. Muita gente boa, que vai fazer história no nosso futebol, com muito gás e conhecimento. Com relação aos mais velhos, todo mundo tem que ser reciclar, se parar no tempo vai ficar para trás, mas é uma coisa que todo mundo pode fazer e está à disposição, como internet, TV, cursos, viagem. Quem quiser se atualizar, está tudo na mão. Além disso, a experiência ajuda e tem situações que os mais novos não sabem lidar, porque está lidando pela primeira vez. Mas vem uma geração muito boa por aí.

West Indies’ offspinner Sunil Narine has been named the Emerging Player of the Year for 2012 at the ICC Awards ceremony in Colombo. He saw off competition from New Zealand’s Doug Bracewell, Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal and Australia’s James Pattinson to take the award.Blessed with biting turn, a difficult knuckle-ball and a natural knack for guile, Narine, 24, has quickly become one of the world’s most promising talents. In the assessment period (August 4, 2011, to August 6, 2012), Narine carved up New Zealand in two home Tests, taking 12 wickets at 25.66. In Twenty20s he took 7 wickets in five games at 18.28. He hit his best form in the 50-overs format though, where he took 28 wickets in 15 games at 18.82.Narine follows West Indies legspinner Devendra Bishoo as a recipient of the Emerging Player award. “We’ve a good junior set-up so hopefully the awards keep coming for us,” Narine said. “I would say this is just the start. As Emerging Player of the Year I know I am someone to look at, and hopefully I will continue to do well.”I’ve enjoyed my first year in the West Indies team. I’ve worked hard and I’ve dedicated myself to the game. This makes me look at life and makes me want to dedicate myself more to the game and to improve. Você sabe o que é Déjà vu, né? Resumidamente, é aquela sensação súbita que você tem de estar vivendo algo que já viveu. Pois senti algo parecido neste sábado ao fazer a cobertura de São Paulo x Atlético-PR no Morumbi. Foi minha primeira vez trabalhando no estádio reportando as notícias do Tricolor desde que deixei o dia a dia do clube há cerca de um ano para ser setorista do Corinthians aqui pelo LANCE!.Foi como se eu nunca tivesse deixado o clube e presenciasse as mesmas cenas dos últimos anos, aquelas que flertam, para desgosto do são-paulino, com a mediocridade.

E não que o São Paulo tenha feito uma partida de todo ruim. Teve até momentos de inspiração. Mas e também não teve nos últimos anos? Só que a imagem que fica gravada e o que gera a revolta do torcedor tão machucado é a do frio, do Morumbi vazio para só 13.053 pessoas e não 40 mil, da dificuldade do time em criar, de se impor em sua casa, de jogar como protagonista. O empate em 0 a 0 com o Furacão devolveu ao São Paulo, por um instante, o sabor que ele tem provado com frequência: o de coadjuvante.

Como já disse, estou distante do dia a dia do clube e não consigo apontar culpados para a queda de rendimento do time, que não vence há seis partidas e ganhou apenas uma das última nove, passando da liderança do Brasileiro para o risco de ficar sem Libertadores. Mas, mesmo à distância, é possível perceber que tem coisa boa sendo feita no clube, há pessoas competentes envolvidas com o projeto de recuperar o caminho dos títulos, mas há também ainda muito o que ser feito. Quem, hoje, é a referência do São Paulo, capaz de conduzir o time a uma taça? Nene? Nem o técnico, que agora já o deixa no banco, parece acreditar nisso, embora reconheça sua qualidade. Diego Souza? Sua biografia não aponta para esse sentido. Para 2019, e é bom que o São Paulo já esteja pensando nisso, é preciso conferir mais espírito vencedor a um time que não pode, com licença ao torcedor, ser chamado de “sem vontade”.

Vontade não falta ao São Paulo, mas será preciso mais para fazer o torcedor voltar a ter orgulho de ir ao estádio de ponta a ponta, sem precisar ser para ajudar o time a lutar contra o rebaixamento, por uma liderança ilusória ou por qualquer outro motivo. A razão do São Paulo tem de ser sempre aquela condizente com sua história. E não é a da mediocridade do Morumbi às moscas, com protestos e assistindo a um time que luta, mas não vence.

تحدث توماس توخيل بعد قيادته لفريقه بايرن ميونخ للفوز في أولى مبارياته كمدير فني للفريق الألماني، أمام بوروسيا دورتموند في كلاسيكو البوندسليجا.

وتغلب بايرن ميونخ على بوروسيا دورتموند بأربعة أهداف مقابل هدفين، ضمن مواجهات الدوري الألماني، ليستعيد الصدارة.

وقال توخيل في تصريحاته لـ “سكاي ألمانيا”، وخلال مؤتمره الصحفي بعد المباراة: “كان اليوم خطوة أولى جيدة، كانت المباراة جامحة بعض الشيء، أردنا أن نمتلك المزيد من الهيمنة والسيطرة، بدأنا بتوتر شديد، كانت المباراة بأكملها في الواقع ضبابية للغاية”.

وأضاف: “لا يزال هناك مجال للتحسين، كان الجميع على علم بما كان على المحك اليوم، دائمًا ما يؤدي تغيير المدرب إلى الاضطرابات، وكان هناك الكثير من الأمور التي يجب استيعابها، كانت الرغبة في تنفيذ كل شيء موجودة 100٪، هذا هو أهم شيء”.

وتابع مدرب بايرن ميونخ: “عندما لعبنا بهدوء، صنعنا فرصًا من الدرجة الأولى، نحن الآن على قمة الترتيب، وهذا سيمنحنا السلام والثقة”.

واصل توخيل: “بعد التقدم 4-0، كنت أتمنى المزيد من الهيمنة وأخطاء أقل، لقد فقدنا الكرة عدة مرات، كان بإمكاننا تسجيل المزيد، الهدفان اللذان استقبلناهما مزعجان، لا يزال هناك مجال للتحسين، هذا ينطبق على الجميع”.

وبشأن قبوله تدريب بايرن ميونخ على الرغم من خطر حدوث خطأ في كل شيء، أجاب: “سادت الرغبة والإثارة في المهمة على كل شيء، لأكون قادرًا على اللعب على جميع الألقاب، لأكون قريبًا من عائلتي، هذا الفريق، كان هذا المزيج هو سبب مجيئي إلى هنا، لقد فاقت المخاطرة”.

وأكمل توخيل بشأن المفاوضات مع بايرن ميونخ: “لقد فوجئت في البداية بأنهم يريدونني على الفور، اعتقدت أنها كانت مجرد مكالمة لاستكشاف الأمر بشأن تولي المسؤولية في الصيف، كان الرؤساء واضحين للغاية، لم تكن هناك تكتيكات من جانبي، ولا خطة ب”.

وأتم: “كانت هناك بعض الاستفسارات، لكن بالنسبة لي كانت الخطة هي العمل في الخارج في الصيف، ولكن في كثير من الأحيان، أثناء وضع الخطط، الحياة تقرر لك، إنها البداية الآن، لقد كان أسبوعًا مكثفًا للغاية، لا أريد التقليل من شأن اليوم لأنها كانت النتيجة التي أردناها حقًا”.
